A key theme in Sprint’s brand story is their commitment to lowering their impact on the planet. As a long-time Sprint partner, they challenged DDW to rethink their packaging by creating something that is responsible – – and meaningful to consumers. (Think millions of boxes per year.)
DDW conducted extensive research and then innovated a cleverly designed, glue-free kraft box that uses only soy inks, water-based coatings, and no plastic whatsoever.
We then had a life cycle assessment study conducted, to measure the magnitude of these innovative and sustainable improvements.
The results were profound:
- They reduced packaging total size by 40% and packaging weight by 60%.
- They migrated to 100% recycled paper board.
- They adopted 100% recycled PET for their accessories packaging, which eliminated 1.8 million pounds of PVC annually.
